Hello! Loved this podcast because I hadn’t heard much, if anything, about movies coming out in 2015. I might get to 10 movies in the theatre this year so I will attempt to list my 10 most anticipated:
10) Jupiter Ascending
9) Kingsman: The Secret Service
8) Terminator Genisys
7) Spectre
6) Mission Impossible 5
5) Ant Man
4) Tomorrowland
3) The Martian (reading the book now, love it!)
2) Avengers: Age of Ultron
1) Star Wars
Of course, I will be relying on you guys to warn me off any turds in the group:) Thanks for your podcast!!
I think this is our first and only legitimate comment on the blog! Congratulations!
Thank you for listening and we’ll do our best to steer your filmgoing in the right direction this year!
So now that Jenna’s kicked open the door to your comments section, here are my most anticipated movies for 2015 in no particular order.
– Knock Knock (based on Tim’s argument alone)
– In the Heart of the Sea (‘Rush’ was flawed but interesting and Anthony Dod Mantle seems like the perfect cinematographer for whale hunting!)
– Spectre (Christoph Waltz is amazing – I don’t dispute that – but I’m rooting for his character to be merely a stepping stone to get us closer to Blofeld so that I can be vindicated in my belief that, based on his performance in ‘Rush’, )
– The Look of Silence (the follow-up to my favourite film of 2013, ‘The Act of Killing’)
Phoenix (got rave reviews from Toronto and directed by Christian Petzhold)
– High-Rise – (Ben Wheatley and Amy Jump adapting J.G. Ballard’s novel with Tom Hiddleston and Jeremy Irons? Fuck … Yes!)
– Ex Machina (despite his shaky screenwriting credits, I’m still rooting for Alex Garland to become great and this film benefits from a passing similarity to Charlie Brooker’s ‘Black Mirror’ series)
– The Duke of Burgundy (after , anything by Peter Strickland has me salivating).
– Wild Tales (Argentina’s entry for the Academy Awards’ foreign language category, starring the Argentinian Tom Hanks: Ricardo Darín)
– Mad Max: Fury Road (based on the trailer)
– Star Wars (BROADSWORD LIGHTSABER! BROADSWORD LIGHTSABER!)
A thoroughly entertaining episode, as always. Do a 2014 Top Tens episode, goddamnit!
A great list! We’re working on it! Sadly it takes some time for those end-of-the-year stragglers to make it to Michigan. I think we’ll have our top 10s of 2014 next week.
Thanks for listening!
